Located north of Sydney and adjacent to Newcastle, the city of Lake Macquarie is a Local Government Area in New South Wales. The lake itself is over four times the size of Sydney Harbour and is the largest coastal saltwater lake in Australia. Lake Macquarie has long sandy beaches border the pacific ocean and adjoins the Watagan Montains.
